Let me start by introducing myself. I grew up in Bills country, and have lived near Cincinnati for 20+ years, but I’ve been a Chargers fan since when in elementary school I liked the Chargers’ uniforms the best in the league, and I loved the Don Coryell led passing game. I’ve never had other knowledgable Bolts fans to chat with. I found the Charger Chat podcast late last season when I was changing jobs and trading my 7 minute drive to work for a 40 minute commute. You all have helped keep me from hating other drivers like I hate the Raiders!
I’ve never watched college football much, but I love the NFL draft and I consume as much pre-draft info as I can each year. I watch every minute of the first two days of the draft, and the majority of the late rounds. Here are some of my thoughts about this year’s soon to be Bolts:
Round 1- While I’d love to see the offense get a new weapon, I suspect both players I love, O. Hampton and C. Loveland, will be gone before our team selects at 22. I see the Bolts going D-Line, with Harmon, Nolan, or Grant. A wildcard could be if a top DE (Green) or CB (Barron) fall to the Bolts, or if they choose to solidify the O-line further with Zabel. I’d be happy with any of these.
Round 2-4- With these picks I expect to see the Chargers pick some order of TE, RB, Edge, and DT (if not chosen round 1). I have a feeling they won’t go WR as early as many expect, as I have a suspicion that they have an agreement in place to bring back Keenan once the comp pick formula no longer applies.
Some players I’d like include:
TE: M.Taylor, E.Arroyo, H.Fannin, T.Ferguson
RB: T.Henderson, Q.Judkins, C.Skattebo, D.Sampson, D.Giddens, R.Harvey (a lot of options here!)
DT: D.Alexander, T.Williams
WR: T.Harris, J.Bech, E.Ayomanor
DE: O.Oladejo, J.Tuimoloau, P.Umanmielen
Overall, I think the Bolts are in a better position now with the team leadership than they have been in a LONG time. In JHx3 I trust!
